Kernel carries out its first direct maritime fuel import

Agroholding Kernel has completed its first direct maritime import of fuel: the company purchased diesel in Greece, delivered it by sea to Ukraine, and has already started using it in field operations.

Kernel announced this in a brief Facebook post. According to the company, the fuel was transported to Ukraine by sea and is already being used in the production process.

“First direct maritime fuel import — done. We purchased Greek diesel, delivered it by sea, and are already using it in the fields,” the company said.

Against the backdrop of a fuel market strained by the war in the Middle East, Kernel has effectively tested a new supply model for itself — direct maritime import of a critical production resource.

Comment by the Institute of Danube Research

Kernel’s first direct maritime fuel import is a notable signal for the wider Ukrainian market. This is not merely an isolated diesel purchase, but a practical test of a new model for securing energy resources for agricultural production through direct seaborne deliveries. Amid wartime volatility, turbulence in the Middle East, price fluctuations, and the continued vulnerability of overland logistics, Ukraine is objectively interested in diversifying fuel supply routes. If such practices scale up, they could strengthen the role of the Black Sea and Danube direction not only for agricultural exports, but also for the import of strategic resources needed by the production sector.
